This is a good example of an alien abduction report that was a hoax.
One of many hoaxed alien abduction stories:
This supposed true alien abduction story is, in fact, a hoax. The "Incident in Lake County" is a hoax documentary shown on the UPN network in 1998. Directed by Dean Alioto, the film portrays a family named the McPherson's being abducted by extra-terrestrials. The entire incident was filmed on a home video camera and intended to convince the viewer that it was a film of actual events.
When this film was revealed to be one of the many fictional alien abduction stories, it sparked resentment in the UFO and alien abduction communities. Respectable researchers of alien abduction stories and alien abduction reports are disgusted by the practice of hoaxing alien abduction reports due to the lack of credibility it suggests to real scientific research into the phenomenon of alien abduction.
Some evidence that this video (shown on the UPN network) was a work of fiction:
All characters have actors credited in playing them.
The actors have rather extensive resumes of their acting work.
No documented case of a McPherson family turning up missing in Lake County.
The four aliens have actor credits. "Big red flag on this one !"
In the scenes where the McPherson boys are running from aliens, the camera is tracking smoothly along the ground.
