<--Pen and Teller's Take
It is safe to say that the majority of people in our country and abroad feel a degree of anonymity in everyday life. This is especially true for people that make their wages through online means. Some take this feeling of not being noticed to the next level and make outrageous claims to gain attention. I think this idea can be applied to alien abduction stories. There is no clear data negating or showing that one if any alien abduction stories are actually true. The problem with personal accounts that only one or maybe two people back up is that a story can easily and quickly be drawn up to back up whatever is said. This can makes it nearly impossible to sort through fact from reality when talking to a person or group of people who stick to their story without any hints of foul play.
Becoming noticed is a large draw for people who tell alien abduction stories. I don’t want to discredit those who are sincere about their claims but there are many fakers out there just as there are many faked UFO videos.
